Englishwoman, Lady Juliet Anna Marie Kingston, was ordered to marry Ross MacLaren by her King. It was shortly after the Jacobite rising. Juliet had to leave her suitor who turned out to be a powerful but evil aristocratic brute. The Scottish savage she thought she was to marry ended up being the sweetest, bravest, and most honorable man she knows. The marriage ending up being one of love. However, her former suitor John Adler, is obessesed with wanting Juliet. He has already kidnapped her once with no help from her father-in-law. Now she was saved by her husband and also has a son and now are returning to Glenhaven Castle. Young Alec who was his sisters son who died from fever and his father was slaughtered in the Rising battle. Now due to this Jacobite battle they had to recently send both of Ross’s sisters to America with her his brother-in-law Jamie. Jamie would of been executed if they they stayed in Scotland.

Alec has grown very attached to his new parents, his former Aunt and Uncle. It was also his dying sisters request that Ross take care of Alec. There is also another lad a distant cousin named Cowan, who is a few years older but have grown very close. Now Juliet's old beau John is back in Scotland causing trouble and on the edge of insanity! He is drunk on power as his father is dying which will mean he will inherit the dukedom. His focus is still his obsession with Juliet and to try to get any type of information to prove Ross is a traitor in the Jacobite rebellion. His focus is not only Juliet but her new young adopted son Alec.

Only a few have this information but if it ever gets in John Adler’s ear it would mean Ross would become a prisoner and sent to England for execution. Unfortunately John has a man using one of the MacLaren maids for information. Will she share or even have any reliable information is another problem to be seen. Plus Juliet’s relationship with her father-in-law is still strained as he still sees her as a Sassenach wench. Will he ever accept his sons wife? Also all the MacLarens are missing the sisters Heather and Glynis. Will it ever be safe enough for them to come home to Scotland? Again the MacLaren family is in a lot of caos and suspicion due to John and his red coat solders. What will they do? Can Ross and Juliet even handle more problems? Can their love conquer all? I recommend to read and find out.

This is the third book in Nancy Pennick’s The MacLaren series. Another beautifully written book, filled with all the fast paced, elements, historical romance readers love. I absolutely love this book as it has all the twists and turns that keeps readers at the edge of their seats but wanting more!

Nancy Pennick pens another beautiful book that I highly recommend! I can’t wait for the next MacLaren novel!

Plus the attraction between Julien and MaKenna only grows. Yet Julien has slept his way through the continent with many beautiful women with no attachments. He won’t apologize for any of it, but something he can’t understand occurred on meeting MaKenna. A fascination for redheads that couldn’t satisfy him unless it was the real thing. 

Now he has the real thing with no plans of letting her go. Like all good things come to an end Makenna feels it time to move on out of the country to keep Julien and his sweet maman safe. Yet is it too late with a huge bounty for Makenna! 

Find out what is in store for the French rogue and sassy lassie? Will it be a life of slavery for Makenna under the obsessive violent behavior of Colin Brodie? Will Julien and Makenna finally realize they are soulmates for life?  

I definitely recommend you read this awe-inspiring book! I couldn’t put it down! Including breathtaking setting, magnificent dialogue, amazing characters plus secondary characters like Lady Eleanor Haverille, young Malcolm and Maxim that you can’t help but love. The plotting was absolutely brilliant with so many twists, turns, ups and downs. I was holding my breath with anticipation, not knowing what could possibly happen next! It had me glued to my seat, a definite nail biter! The type of story historical romance readers will love. 

Including all the elements romance readers love. From a riveting page turning adventure, a mystery in a “who done it” style and suspense. Then there is betrayal, attempted murder, murder, abduction treachery, abuse, brutality, abduction, viciousness, humiliation, betrayal, protection, heartwarming passion, trust and love. In addition so many more surprises and much more! 

A book you don’t want to miss! I absolutely and unequivocally loved this story so much!

A fast paced, page turning, riveting, romantic, adventure, filled with all the elements Scottish historical readers enjoy.

1817 England and Scotland

Virginia Whitebridge was sold by her father for her wealth for a title. It was no more than being in prison or forced slavery. Luckily one of the women was the fiance of a Scottish Sinclair Clan. They rescue the women and this is where she meets the kindest, bravest not to mention the most handsome man she ever known. The attraction is immediate and sizzling hot!

Yet, Virginia is not being honest and hiding her true identity. Unfortunately an acquaintance from her past is there. Lucy went to school with her in England, now in Scotland and married to Alex Sinclair! As Lucy Sinclair once was very much infatuated with Virginia's husband. Lucy can't figure out why she hasn't written to her husband, to tell of her misfortunate abduction and rescue. He must be so worried she thought shouldn't he be?

Virginia has asked Lucy not to tell anyone of her marriage or royal title. Claiming her husband ßwould lose all acceptance by the ton. That is if they found out his wife was on a ship full of pirates for three months! Yet really Virginia is scared for her life and needs to investigate and find out if her husband was behind her abduction.

The chemistry is hot and heavy, even though Virginia  has been married for three years-Magnus gives Virginia her first kiss ever! Yet the guilt spills in and she confesses her marriage. Not only that but her title as an English Viscountess. Something that is way too high for farmer, Magnus Sinclair, which leaves him devastated and broken hearted.

She is like the fragile China his mum warned him off as a child. He can look, but not touch, but boy oh boy, did he want to touch! Then his cousin Declan who has a mysterious power in his dreams. He is the hero in Betting the Scot, book #2. Magnus asks his cousin Declan who is a seer about a vision he has. He also knows when his cousin is lying to him. Did he possibly see his death is this sight?  He can’t seem to stay away from Virginia, and is determined to help her get her finances back, as well as her dreams in London. The problem is, Magnus hates England and englishmen more than anything else in the world! In addition he wants a woman he knows he can never have!

Will Virginia's dreams come true? Is it wrong to desire a kind heroic man when you are in a loveless abusive marriage? Will her dream for a home for orphans and street urchins ever come true? Again Jennifer Trethewey blows me away with her golden pen and her superbly storytelling visions and talent. Another book that will touch your soul and melt your heart. An awe inspiring book that is absolutely unforgettable! It exactly the the type of book that historical romance readers will love.

Beautiful settings, magnificent dialogue, dashing hero and a stunning heroine. Also secondary characters that are absolutely brilliant! However the plotting is so exhilarating, that it will have readers holding their breath with anticipation, not knowing what could possibly happen next! This book is a fast quick paced, action packed,  page turning, riveting romantic adventure. It is filled with abduction, abuse, treachery, murder, betrayal, lies, deception, mayhem, trust, faith, protection, respect, passion and love.

A book historical romance readers don’t want to miss. As it is a phenomenal story from prologue to epilogue that will stay with you long after you have finished. A definite shelf keeper that readers will want to reread again and again. Jennifer Trethewey is one of those talented authors that knows exactly how to bring readers into her stories and never letting go. It’s a rare quality that only very gifted authors have!

This is the third book, in the (Highlanders of Balforss) series which is absolutely phenomenal. It was a total delight to read. I could not put it down!

I can’t recommend “Forgetting the Scot” by Jennifer Trethewey enough! As all the books in the The Highlanders of Balforss series you can read them each as stand alone books too.

This is a novella and a second chance romance.  It is about the relationship between William MacPherson and Coira MacLaren. As Coira had shredded William’s heart last year by refusing his offer of marriage. This was the last thing he wanted to do, yet he was a knight of the realm and could not refuse his Queens orders. My God, he would of been the happiest of men had it been a year or even two years ago! However, rejection by the women you love does strange things to a man's ego, heart, self confidence, and esteem. He nearly was destroyed by losing the one woman he loves, yet he worked hard to advance himself in the King’s Guard. As the Queen wants him to protect her from the threats on her life. Last time her husband King James I, murdered, though he left his Queen and her ladies to defend themselves with no protection. The Queen nearly joined her husband in death, which now only makes the Queen desire vengeance even more.

Yet none of this bothered William, being a personal guard to the Queen,or the danger that came with it. It was coming face-to-face to one of the Queen mother’s personal maids. It was no secret either, even the Queen gave the advice to either marry the lass or end it. Yet there are lies, threats, blackmail, traitors and treason behind closed doors. Even the real reason Coria didn’t accept William’s marriage proposal. As things are definitely not like they appear!

Will William’s heart every mend? Will Coira ever reveal the truth and why she really rejected William’s offer of marriage? Is this couple that is so passionately wound determined to go their separate ways? Definitely a book you don’t want to miss.

Again Kate Robbins pens another fast-paced, page-turning, passionate, suspenseful, and mysterious adventure. This is a wonderful start to a great series, that just makes me hunger for the next book. Even though it is a novella, I was immediately drawn to the characters and plot. Ms. Robbins talent as a writer definitely shined through.

It is there she hears some heartbreaking news. It wasn’t until her son Iain, was close to his thirteenth year, when her mother dies.

Now, Anna devised a plan to go back and have her son meet his Cameron kin.  As his father, Malcolm Cameron, was the heir of Clan Cameron and would of

become Chief. So eventually her son would claim his legacy, being Malcolm Cameron’s heir. She just needs someone to give her a proper introduction to the Cameron Clan. Afterall it was her duty as his mum to see to her sons future, security and happiness.

Achnacarry Castle on Loch Arkaig

Scotland, 1371

Davidh Cameron is a widow, father, including the commander and trainer of the Cameron warriors. The problem was his son Colm was extremely ill with a life threatening lung disease. He had seen so many healers and nothing was working! Davidh was constantly worried and couldn’t bare the thought of losing his son too. He had lost so much already’ and Colm was all he had left after losing his wife and now his parents. None of the treatments from the healers that he had seen his son have worked. Now his friend Suisan who sometimes took care of  his eight year old son Colm. This was when he had to fulfill his commander duties at the castle. On this day, Colm was showing extremely bad symptoms! Suisan sent message to the castle for Davidh to return to his son immediately! Suisan had heard the witch of Caig Falls had returned to above the falls. Not that she believed the gossip and ridiculous stories of sorcery, but knew she was a respected healer. Had heard she had recently healed a boy who was badly injured near the falls. She recommended the witch of Caig Falls and Davidh felt it gave him the smallest amount of hope, he would try it. Hell he would try anything that might help cure his sons ailment!

Davidh meets the beautiful Anna MacKenzie, not her mother, the well known witch. She agrees to help heal his son, though she is not sure she can permanently heal him. She does at least seem to make Colm comfortable. Yet she also needs someone who can introduce her to her sons Cameron kin. The very clan she needs her son to get an introduction to. Luckily due to Ian features he is recognized as a Cameron right away with his recognizable nose. Davidh Cameron is the perfect choice! A man who is in a authoritative, respected position, plus had a close relationship with the Laird. He also seemed to be an advisor or listened to the chieftains counsel as well. Though once the truth of her plans come to light, Davidh will despise her and possibly think she is a traitor. Due to her using Davidh as Commander and her position as his sons healer. All to gain her sons rightful legacy. However, having her son introduced into the Cameron clan, and claiming his birthright as chieftain, will make all of Anna’s dreams come true. The problem is the more she gets closer to Davidh, Colm, and their clan she is starting to feel things she didnt expect or want! Especially  for the kind, generous, caring man and father, Davidh Cameron! She knows once her plan goes into action Davidh will be furious feeling betrayed and used. Yet will Anna let these new feelings of love and caring cast all her well made and long awaited plans into wind? Will Davidh forgive her or feel she has used, abused and and betrayed him in the most unforgivable way. In addition broken his heart and shattered his dreams in the worst sort of way.

There is a group of bandits causing havoc in the village. As many would like to remove Robert Cameron as Laird too.  So putting Iain in this role could absolutely jeopardize and split the Cameron clan up! Plus their is a good chance of starting a clan war. Davidh gave his fealty, honor and sword to his Laird, Robert Cameron. A man Davidh stand behinds to give his loyalty, respect and protection to. What choice can he make? Plus the fact that Malcolm Cameron was his blood brother and very best friend! Another person he made blood promises and honor too? So who will he protect and honor his Chief, best friend, or woman he can’t get out of his head or heart?

Exquisite setting, superb plotting, awe-inspiring dialogue and characters you can’t help but love. It is definitely a book Brisbin fans don’t want to misn addition new book readers will be totally mesmerized! As Terri Brisbin novels are that magnificent and this one is a definite masterpiece!

You can read this as a stand alone book or series book order. As there are usually characters from previous books making appearances in the new novel. Yet it won’t ruin the story or be hard to follow if you haven’t read all the books. I like to connect the character dots myself, but that is not necessary, just a readers  personal choice. You can always go back and read the other four books in this series too-if you haven’t read them yet. It is a book with so many twists, turns, ups and downs, that will keep you guessing with the wonderful element surprise! A fabulous book that I could not put down! It had me mesmerized from start to finish!

I absolutely and unequivocally highly recommend A Healer for the Highlander by Terri Brisbin. A book to definitely revisit again and again!
