The Scottish Highlands 1524
Margaret Douglas is married to a monster! It was a political marriage her brothers had arranged. It was for their selfish needs and how it would line their pockets. This was to advance their political careers, to rule and dominate the Scottish crown. They know their sisters are beautiful and irresistible to men. The brothers plan to use that for their personal selfish gain! As they use their beauty to attract wealthy, powerful, aristocratic men to help further their political careers. They honestly don’t care how it affects their sisters lives as they always are manipulating them.
Margaret’s husband is extremely abusive even though it’s mental abuse. Plus she is no longer any use to him politically since her brothers are traitors. He behaves like it’s Margaret’s fault , as her brothers have been exiled as traitors. So he throws her out right after she miscarried and in the middle of dangerous storm. She is still bleeding! He tells her she is useless and a bad partner! He has marriage annulled and she is done with marriage and men. The only thing Margaret ever wanted was a child. It didn’t matter what the sex was unlike her brutal husband who only wanted an heir a son. Margaret had been living peacefully at her sisters. Until her brother have found another escape and way to return to Scotland with the support of King Henry the VIII. Now they want to use Margaret again as a pawn in their political shenanigans to forge another powerful political alliance.
Margaret is very helpful to her sisters clan and people in the village. They respect and love her because of her kindness and generosity. One day one of the village lads comes to Margaret. He is in a state of panic and horror! He is dragging his three year old sister, Ella, explaining how his mother was brutally murdered by his alcoholic father. The lad is frightened and petrified and needs to escape from this mans clutches. Yet this 12 year old protective brother wants to save his wee sister, Ella by giving her a good mother and home. It’s as if all of Margaret’s dreams are coming true, yet she knows her brothers would never approve! As they would take the child away. She had to escape with Ella. As no noble royal husband would accept another man's child. Yet all Margaret wants is to have a small home of her own and a child she can be a mother to.
Now another political plot is brewing. Finn Sinclair Gordon has never felt loved or good enough or wanted his entire life. His own family sent him away at age 8. He has no title, lands or home. He lives by his sword now his is promised all his desires. Yet other clan members and warrior respect ans honor Finn. He only has to do one thing to require this, he must kidnap Margaret Douglas as some want to weaken her brothers power and position. Margaret, whom Finn calls Maggie is nothing like what he expected. He kidnaps Margaret and her new daughter Ella with ease. Little did he know, she was his answer to be able to escape her brothers plans, to use her for another political marriage. Finn who has not fallen for a woman since he was a teenager starts falling for Margaret. Yet he has a lot of trust and self esteem issues just as Maggie does. Neither feels they are good enough for the other, yet the attraction soon turns to love, but can it last? Margaret feels Finn will want an heir and be tired of her in a matter of time. She also stereotypes men as he stereotypes wealthy heiresses. Finn feels he will never be good enough to give Maggie the life she is accustomed and deserves. That is living in castle with jewels, beautiful gowns, and servants. Will these star crossed lovers stay together or go their separate ways? I have read every single Margaret Mallory book and I can never get enough! One of my favorite authors on the planet! As Ms. Mallory weaves my favorite combination of true Scottish history with a beautiful fictional romance. As she researched the history brilliantly. Kidnapped by a Rogue was an absolute masterpiece. It is a quick paced, page turner with a riveting adventure, and non-stop action.
This wonderful novel has all the elements readers love from true Scottish history, true Scottish historical characters, treachery, deception, violence, murder, villains, clan wars, betrayal, lies, forgiveness, trust, faith, passion and love.

The settings are absolutely breathtaking, brilliant characters, and the dialogue is absolute perfection. Plots within plots that had me holding my breath with anticipation not knowing what could possibly occur next. Swoon and drool worthy hero, as readers can't help but love Finn. He is everything a hot highlander should be. The heroine starts off as weak, but soon her strength and courage delightfully surprised me! Many secondary characters I absolutely loved like Alex, cousin Lizzy and young Ella. Plus a one eyed dog!
You can read as a stand alone or in series order. Readers choice but I recommend you read all three! This is such a fabulous and unforgettable series! I know I wouldn’t want to miss any! Plus her sisters are mentioned in every book. One of my favorite reads of the year! Absolutely loved Kidnapped by a Rogue, Volume #3 from start to finish!
