Inverhaven, March 1390

Derryth MacClaren, sister of Elspeth Braewick and sister-in-law to Niall Braewick, Laird Kincaid. She was most unhappy  being made to leave Inverhaven in the middle of a cold rainy night. As her sister was set to deliver her first child at anytime now. Yet a serious threat was made again by the the Wolf. As Kings men, Buchan’s men  were seen on nearby hill.

That only meant the Wolf was waiting to attack and go after the clan Kincaid again, to finish what he started all those years ago. The man, Alexander Stewart, the Earl of Buchan who organized the murders of his family and stolen his home, lands and clan.  He organized the brutal murder of Niall’s parents and youngest brother all those years ago.

Elspeth and Niall want to keep Derryth out of harm's way. Yet even sending her with Niall’s second in command, his best warriors, in the disguise as farmers under another clan name. They would actually be going to the MacClaren stronghold-where her widowed stepmother and young adolescent sisters lived.  The undercover story was they would be helping with the farming in the fields of another allied clan name. This was to keep them off track and to keep hidden their true identities and destination. Elspeth would join her as soon as she delivered the baby.

Yet their party ambushed by wild   highlanders working for the Wolf. Yet she is saved by Cul the nameless, the Kings Guard sworn to serve the Scottish King. He is also called commander, best warrior and Knight. He has no trust of this group of peasant travelers, so keeps them under his protection.  The mud covered girl is separated and must stay with him in his sleeping quarters. He feels it is the only way this party will not escape as he has no trust of them. He even suspects they could be Kincaids! So until he has taken over Inverhaven he will keep them as guests.

Cul had been rescued on his slavers ship and a Kings man ask him his name. He says Boy as he doesn't have any memory since forced to be slave at eight years old. So when this Kings man offers to train him as warrior, to work for the Scottish king and to be free. Twelve year old Cul jumps at the chance.

Now  as a man, the only thing Cul the nameless wants is a home, lands wealthy heiress and bairns and a name. The Wolf dangles Inverhaven in front of him but also his recent prize, Derryth. He only has to destroy the Kincaids and all his dreams will come true! Yet now Cul the nameless Warrior has fallen deeply in love for his prize, the little captive peasant.  As derryth doesn’t expect to fall for her jailer. A man with no memory who will do anything to possess a home, lands, heiress wife and mostly a name.

However, his rival the Wolf's son Duncan is extremely jealous of  his father's favorite warrior Cul-the-nameless. So after Duncan does some investigating,  he plans in doing some deadly damage to Cul’s favorite peasant and keep her for himself.

In addition Derryth realizes too late that Cul might be the third missing Kincaid brother. That would be Cullen Braewick, the youngest son. From what she thought was what Cul thought was a slavers mark was not that at all. Derryth realizes was a mark he and all the Braewick brothers were given at birth! The problem is she is not certain, never seeing these precious tattoos up close.  That would be Cullen Braewick, the youngest son. Yet Cul fears if he gets his vengeance against the man who put him on a slavers ship and then just acts like his rescuer to train him as a King’s man and make him a free man.

Just as the Wolf’s dark  twisted plan is for Cul to destroy his own family. Yet as a Kings man Cul has to listen to orders!Are they the Kings orders or just a madman's plot for vengeance? In addition his main priority is to keep the woman of his heart safe from harm. What will Cul do?

will these star crossed lovers find a happily ever after?  Will it end with the man she loves stealing her home and slaughtering all those she loves? Will her love turn into hate? Or will Cul finally be reunited with a family he never  knew he had? If that possibility can ever become a reality.

Plus many people  want to divide and conquer Cul’s prize from threats and jealousy. Find out how this serie finale ends in a shocking conclusion that will curl your toes!

I highly recommend this brilliant masterpiece. One of my favorite books of the year! A fast paced page turner! Another riveting adventure with non stop action, murder, treachery, mayhem, villains, vengeance, betrayal, brotherly love, passion, honor, forgiveness and love. All the elements that Scottish historical romance readers love! It will melt your heart and touch your soul!

Sadly this is the third book and finale of the Highland Warrior Series. I so loved all three novels, all brilliantly written. I think The Warrior of Clan Kincaid might be my favorite of the series. You can read this as well as a stand alone book. I personally like connecting the dots between each brother and previous book characters. I have also read each book in this series in under twenty-four hours which is rare and means its another Lily Blackwood masterpiece! I certainly hope this author has more scottish historical stories to tell.

This exhilarating book will absolutely blow you away! The setting is beautiful, dialogue is breathtaking, swoon worthy hero and protective heroine. A woman who will do anything to to care for those she loves! Brilliant plotting, holding my breath with anticipation not knowing what could possibly happen next!

Lily Blackwood is a truly gifted author that I can’t recommend enough!

Joan de Laurent is the sister of Rhys and Warrick de Laurent from Forbidden Night with the Warrior and Highlander. She wears only white as a sign of her virginity,an iron cross to keep away magical enchantment beings and she attended mass everyday. People avoided her believing she has supernatural powers. Joan believes only because she comes from a royal family they don’t try to destroy her as a witch. Joan feels she is cursed since the three men who she was betrothed to all perished before the wedding. They each died of various reasons, injuries from battle, illness and old age. Yet Joan still felt she was cursed.

Prince Ronan ó Callahan just saw his evil step-brother and his evil step-mother overthrow their Kingdom. They had manipulated many with cold blooded murderers just to get their hands on the throne. Ronan had no choice but to run as he would of been easy prey and target to murder. His father was abducted as far as he knew but he had to rescue his people and kingdom.

The only place he knew to ask for help was the powerful King Patrick MacEgan. The King who had the most powerful tribe and lands. As it happens the de Laurents also went there to ask for help or suggestions for their sister’s current situation.

Patrick’s advice was for Ronan to overthrow his step-brother and grab the title as King for himself. He suggested Ronan marry a woman with a powerful family and warriors. Of course he was hinting at Joan. Ronan has sworn off women since the death of his brother. Plus he didn’t want to wed anyone without a home! Joan also refused to marry and watch another betrothed die! Yet with these two attraction and sizzling  passion can't be denied! Will these two go against all odds and get what they truly desire and deserve? Or will All their hopes and desire go up in smoke and fall on deaf ears?

I highly recommend this exhilarating book. A story that will stay with you long after it’s been read.

This book centers on turbulent times in Scotland which is about religion, faith, force and power. Now there were rumors that  Catholic royalists, clan leaders are being murdered! The Catholic royalists, that didn't support Protestant Covenanters, are being murdered! Plus, there might be an execution name list of all the Royalist clan leaders to be terminated. Plus some have overheard Kirstie Cameron’s brothers are on the list, including her brother Lachlan, The Laird of Clan Cameron. Covenanters desire to support the English Parliament and their desire to take strength from King Charles. This was an English issue, but Scottish government declares every Scotsman to beat the King’s forces! On some level they dream of a unified Scotland.

Going undercover:

Alan Mackenzie is shocked to learn his Lairds sister is trying to get close to all the men in the enemy clan, to find out information concerning her brothers. So he is trying to protect her without blowing his cover. As he is secretly working at espionage for Kirstie’s Laird  brother. So he is acting as if he despises the family that raised him!Kirstie Cameron was trying to get

information on who was attempting to murder her brothers. Yet she is in the enemy clan territory. Not only that, but Alan is the one man whom she was in love with. He had rejected her and who broke her heart years ago, which forced her to leave her families lands and clan. He still makes her heart tingle with butterflies in her stomach! Also, it is her Laird’s brother-former best friend. Kirstie doesn’t realize he too is undercover.

Alan sees Kirstie is even more beautiful all grown up, than when he last saw her long ago. He might not be able to touch her but he’ll be damned if he let any of these murdering weasel Covenanters touch her! Even though she seems to be flirting with each and every one!

These two former would be lovers have a lot of baggage. In addition some big solid obstacles and dividers to remove. That is if they can ever open their hearts, trust, reconcile, and move forward and love again. As both have low self esteem issues.

He feels he carries the sins of his father, which caused the early death of his mother. He fears this could be Kirstie future if he was to wed her. She just felt so rejected, as she has never been comfortable in her own skin with big crowds of people. Usually stays in dark corners alone. Only animals especially horses does she feel comfortable and at peace with herself. So when the shy lass opens up to heartbreak, she exiles herself from family and the clan she loves! It is only the day after he broke her heart and rejected her.

As it has been years since they lived under the same roof. Is it too little too late, or can they ever reveal the truth and the real reasons for their past difficulties, dilemma, and complications? Not to mention each of them are putting themselves in explicit danger snooping and investigating an enemy clan. This could result in torture and death for both Kirstie and Alan.

As Alan was always trying to do the right thing she being his best friends sister. Not to mention he feels he is protecting her from him and the monster he inherited from his father! Plus he still feels he would be dangerous to any woman. It was the Camerons that took him in as a lad. How could he betray them by lusting after their daughter/sister? Yet seeing this beauty all grown up is making Alan feel things that should be forbidden to him! Not to mention each of them are putting themselves in explicit danger, with espionage and infiltration. In other words spying and gaining the enemies trust. This is for secret information, snooping and investigating. As an enemy clan that wants to to harm to the Cameron clan leaders. This could result in death for both Kirstie and Alan!

Lori Ann Bailey, pens another exhilarating, quick paced, page turning tale. It will make readers both shiver and swoon! This remarkable story is absolutely unforgettable!

A fabulous summer read that historical romance readers don’t want to miss. It’s the third novel in her Highland Pride series. It can be read as a stand alone book as her previous books in this series.  This phenomenal novel is so wonderfully incredible!

A second chance romance story with true historical facts. It has all the elements historical romance readers love! Emotional passionate love story, historical facts and issues between Royals and Covenanters. It is an exciting adventure, misunderstandings, complications, betrayal, threats, rejection, heartbreak, murdering schemes, rekindling love, passion,and so much more. The setting, plotting, dialogue characters are all absolutely superb!  I was holding my breath in this twisting and turning trail, not knowing what could possibly happen next!

I highly recommend Highland Temptation by Lori Ann Bailey.

The heroine of this story Sylvi watches her family get slaughtered and murdered when she was a child. Sylvi by some miracle who was also attacked survived. Since then Sylvi is obsessed with paying back those responsible for destroying her family. An eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth etc. as she wants her vengeance for the malice and evil treachery done to them. Since then Sylvi has her eye on the prize to pay back to those responsible for ripping her heart out and killing her loving family. Now Sylvi has been training ever since to become an assassin. So she can attack and assault and be trained by My Lady. Which is the one who can train and turn her into a fighting killing machine. Now she takes jobs as an assassin and kills others as well. 

Her current job is to kill Ian Campbell, the hero of this story. She is to bring the body to those who want him killed. The problem is it isn't as easy as it sounds to execute the life of Ian Campbell. Then Ian opens Sylvis eyes to some realities. As Ian has refused to become his father's heir and suggests his brother take it. He doesn't want to become the brutal man his father is. Plus Ian's father commited a horrendous crime that made Ian not forgive and leave home. Now Ian is attracted to Sylvi even though she nearly murdered his in his slumber! Yet he trusts her like no other. As he seems to fall for Sylvi the moment the lays his eyes on her. As for Sylvi she is not easy to trust or open her heart easily but eventually does. Then she and Ian find they have much in common and much to love. Yet can these two broken souls last? As Silvi realizes revenge does not  give her the sweet taste of satisfaction  she has craved since she was eight years old. 

Will these star crossed lovers romance last? Or will this ride come to an abrupt stop due to Sylvi’s misery and unhappiness. As she not feeling resolute and thrilled  after getting her retaliation. 

Madeline Martin pens another masterpiece in her third book in her powerful Mercenary Maidens. A book you can read as a stand alone book or in series order. Again this author writes another fast paced riveting adventure, with non stop action. It is also topped with vengeance, treachery, betrayal, murder and mayhem. Plus a beautiful love story of two heartbroken souls. They seem to need each other to put the pieces back together again. In addition A breathtaking setting, intricate character and   devine and delightful dialogue. Plus the phenomenal plotting will make you gasp with anticipation- not knowing what will happen next!

A definite book readers don't want to miss! I highly recommend Highland Wrath by the amazing Madeline Martin.

This book is part of the Anthology Christmas in Kilts. Guardian of her niece Ella is Freya Sutherland now Ella’s royal faternal grandsires may want to take Ella away from Frey

which is absolutely heartbreaking to Freya. As Freya has been caring for her niece for her enrire six years od her life.

Captain Pennington meets Freya by being assigned as Freya and Ellas escort. He is attracted to Freya but not ready to chain himself to marriage and give up his bachelor days. Yet it is the only solution that Freya requires-to be able to keep Ella and remain her guardian.

As Penn was just looking forward to retirement from the Army and doesn't see being shackled by marriage in his future. Yet a 6 year old child gets under his skin playing matchmaker for her Auntie. Plus Ella makes this novel hilarious at times with her wonderful antics, a humorous addition to this story. Yet Freya  is running out of time and soon wont have a choice but marry her dreadful cousin the heir of Ellas fathers lands.

A definite must read and a wonderful collection and addition to any May McGoldrick library. As always its written exquisitely with a fast paced, fabulous, romantic adventure that historical romance readers will adore. Star crossed lovers with a child playing matchmaker that anyone with a romantic heart will love. I highly recommend this beautiful sweet novella.

I have been waiting for this novel since 1992 just needed Malcom to grow up. This novel ties in with (The MacKinnon Bride book) #1 in the {Highland Bride Series}. As the swoon worthy hero is all grown up now. He was a young child who had been kidnapped by his Grandsire and King Henry in The MacKinnon’s Bride Book. Now Malcom Scott, son of Laird Iain MacKinnon is all grown up and has inherited his own property. This is through his step-mother Page the only mother he has ever known. He got his evil dead Grandsire’s title and castle through Page his only living heir.

This series the daughters of Avalon is also about five Pendragon sisters Elspeth, Rhiannon, Rosalynde, Seren and Arwyn. All  who have been living in exile most of their lives. They are all King Henry’s illegitimate daughters. Due to their jealous, powerful, spiteful  and extremely hateful mother Morwen. In addition they all have inherited some form of witchcraft. Yet they know they must keep this secret or it could end badly for all of them. As this is the time where people still fear witches, supernatural female beings, by burning at the stake or worse.

Of course their evil mother has just been biding her time, to make matches to powerful evil men who will support their sister, the powerful empress Matilda. A mother who betrayed her own sweet mother and stole their Blackwood inheritance has rarely seen them since abandoning them and basically making them prisoners of the priory. Plus it is so isolated with all the religious creepy clergy who fear and detest the sisters and their supernatural powers. Now the first match was decided for eldest sister Elspeth. It is to a horrific, evil influential man who  is no more than an assassin. Yet he is the new lord of Blackwood. Yes it would give Elspeth a title but not the life she wants.

The sisters all decided Elspeth must runaway! She decides to steal Merry Balls yet is captured by Malcom in Wales. She and her sisters realize she needs a champion too. Yet the attraction soon grows, stronger though Malcom knows Elspeth is running away away and has many secrets. Yet she is an answer to betrothal problem he has too. What will he do once Elspeth truth is revealed? Abandon Elspeth or protect her? Plus the relationship between Malcom and his father is extremely abominable and wretched! As Malcom has bent his knee to an English King and slaughtering his own people in battle. He and his father Iain haven't spoken in a decade which is absolutely heartbreaking too!

This book is a complete masterpiece from start to finish. It has all the elements Scottish historical readers love. Plus it weaves true royal historical figures in history with a fictional sweet caring and loving couple. Fast paced, non-stop action, delightful adventure, family feuding, enchanting romance plus magical spellbinding origins. The setting left me breathless, the dialogue was brilliant and the plotting and characters was absolute perfection! Showing love is the answer to true magic.

I highly recommend “The King’s Favorite” by  Tanya Anne Crosby as I have been reading her novels for over 26 years. I still find her books exciting, exhilarating and phenomenal! A total masterpiece and a great reality escape for me personally. I can't wait for the next book in “The Daughters of Avalon” series.
