5 KILTS FOR THE GHOST BY MONICA MCCARTY, A HIGHLAND GUARDS NOVEL,BOOK 12, THE FINALE TBR 5/31/2016,(CELTC BARB LOVED IT AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDS!)

With a heavy heart and tears this will sadly be my last  "A Highland Guard Novel" review. Brilliant author, Monica McCarty's finale , The Ghost" is book #12, the last book and finale of the series. I have utterly and absolutely loved all twelve books, each book is a masterpiece in its own rite. Yes Monica McCarty,  is one  of those rare, gifted authors who lines true, factual history, with a captivating unique and original fictional romance, my in my favorite genres to read about historical Scotland. I am so sad this is the last book in the series, but look forward to her next journey as I love history and I love romance and the combination is icing on the cake for me!

The Ghost"  By Monica McCarty

A Highland Guards Novel, Book #12, The Finale to be released on 5/31/2016

Carlisle Castle, Cumbria
England, 1314
Joan Comryn saw how they tortured  and put her Scottish patriot mother, Bella MacDuff  in a cage at age 12. This was an unheard punishment for a woman. Condemned by her father John and the cruel sadistic brutal English King! From that day on her father was dead to her and swore to the allegiance of Robert the Bruce. From that day on she had to grow up fast and after her father died the King declared her illegitimate and a bastard and gave all her wealth and holding to her cousins who is now her guardians. She finds out men's secrets through seduction but and sabotage making them think they had their wicked ways with her. Funny how flirting, seduction, whiskey and a sleeping draught can loosen a man's tongue! Then she passes her message to the Bruce.

Even most of the Highland  Guard know her only as the Ghost and not who she is or that she is even a woman. Luckily her stepfather Lachland "Viper" MacRuairi has taught her how to defend herself and get out of sticky situations. She could live with her family in Scotland in an instant if she chose. Joan is stubborn, has been doing this for the last six years and won't stop in the middle of a mission. Especially now so close to the great war and battle they have been anticipating! It's a dangerous game she is playing and soon she meets her match when she she meets former Highland Guard deserter and traitor Alex "Dragon Seton!

You can feel the chemistry and attraction between the handsome former brethren of the Highland Guard and soon finds out he is suspected of being the spy by the English.  This makes Alex furious as he sees he is not trusted again, no matter what side he is on! As the English know the Ghost is among them passing along their information to The Bruce camp. Alex is determined to find this spy he just doesn't think it's the woman he is cares for.....yet!

Joan hasn't really felt for anyone since she was a girl due to her allegiance and mission to The Bruce and a past tragic betrayal. She closes off  her emotions, so Alex storming into her heart is some what of a shock and surprise! She knows how Alex believes in honor and honesty over everything and feels they only way they can have a future is for him to change sides. It is the only way she can reveal the truth and where her loyalties truly lie. Can she trust him and give him her heart?  Will her  Highland Guard brethren even accept him back after Alex's betrayal two years ago? Will he pick love over honor  or will he betray her in the worst way of all? To reveal her darkest secret and report that Joan is the spy  "The Ghost" who has been helping The Bruce all along? To find out the answers and so much more you will have to read this magnificent book to see for yourself.

Another powerful exhilarating emotional  Highland Guard book that I could not put down. It was wonderful how Ms. McCarty pieced and ended the series - is pure perfection if you ask me. Like part of a puzzle that fit in perfectly or a missing link that was discovered.

Of course being that's it the final the last  book in the series I found it emotional at times but filled with all the right elements readers love in a Highland Guard novel. Filled with drama, mystery suspense, murder, brutality, torture, capture, manipulation, war, betrayal, seduction, heartbreak, romance, passion, love and so much more! The setting is absolutely breathtaking, heartwarming characters that always seems so real and spectacular dialogue. Another phenomenal read to add to your  Highland Guard collection which is a masterpiece in itself!

Yes I loved it and recommending it is an understatement, believe me you don't want to miss this one. You can read in series order or a stand alone book, another great quality in her books. I do recommend reading all 12 satisfying from start to finish in each and every one!

I have enjoyed it so much so thank you Monica McCarty for telling this story it truly touched my heart and warmed my soul! This is of one of my most favorite heroes and royal icons  in Scottish history - King Robert, The Bruce, in your fictional tale of his elite warriors "The Highland Guard". It's been an a wonderful journey and I have  love, love, loved it so very much, as their aren't enough words to describe how much I have loved all the books, stories and character's in this mega marvelous series!"The Ghost", Joan and Alex's story  was no different except maybe I cried a bit more being the last one, but another beautiful story and masterpiece headed to my keeper shelf! I look forward to your next book and series on your next writing   journey as I will be waiting with bated breath for its release to read!.......Sláinte Mhath, Celtic Barb

Highlander Unbroken, A Highland Advnture Novel, by Vonda Sinclair. TBR on May 10, 2016 5 Kilts! Neacal is one hot Scot!

Highlander Unbroken, A Highland Adventure Novel, by Vonda Sinclair

Loch Moidart, Scotland, 1619

Neacal  MacDonald, newly appointed Laird of Clan MacDonald of Castle Bearach is a lonely broken hero with a heart of ice. Yet this man has a two sided sword as he wants to make his late father proud of him as well. He had been severely tortured two years prior - by an enemy clan, that most men wouldn't of survived. Neacal had been secretly spying for the King of Scotland, weeding out traitorous clans. Also he believes he was betrayed by a woman that left his taste toward women bitter and untrusting. He hasn't even touched a woman in two years and he did bed his share of the lassies before. Neacal  wears a scar on one side of his face from his previous torture, which he hides behind his hair. Some of his own clan members are faithless and look at him like he is a monster! On top of that many people in his own people don't feel he should be laird or even think he is sane enough to protect the Clan! He is a broken man with many scars, not all can be seen.

Neacal wrongly lives with the guilt of many deaths he believes he is blamed for. He was determined to heal his broken body by running, swimming and taking his physical endurance to the limit. Many clan members feel he has a touch of madness, including some of the elders.   The only one he allows companionship  and he shows affection for is trusted wolfhound Dunn. Animal lovers will just love Dunn! There seems to be traitors  and enemy Clans lurking  at every corner!

Nothing heals his suffering except the voice of the beautiful Anna Douglas, the singer from the the traveling minstrel musicians who are entertaining the Clan. It seems to give him peace and healing and keeps his personal  hell and treacherous memories of the past at bay!!

Anna Douglas has many secrets as she has been on the run from a man who calls himself her husband by an illegal marriage . He killed her first husband, her unborn child and blinded her sister!  This true evil whoreson gets away with it too! He is filling corrupted officials pockets and no witnesses. She knows this man will kill her and those she cares for - if he ever catches up to her! She is also the first woman in a long time that Neacal has felt anything for as he hasn't even touched a woman in two years. He thought he swore he would never trust another woman again, yet Anna storms into his life and  she seems to give him the peace and healing he needs. They both have suffered greatly seems to be their common bond. This eventually opens their hearts to give them hope. Yet when all their ememies seems to come to them at once Anna knows she must leave to keep the man she loves. To keep his clan safe as she wouldn't be able to survive if Neacal was hurt again, to suffer in any way just by protecting her! For her there is only one option and even though this will break her heart. Anna will do what she must to protect het man!

A broken man and woman who create a bond by both understanding  and knowing what pain and  suffering really is! Anna seems to be his wee miracle worker melting his ice cold heart! Even trusting a female again in the slightest is a remarkable accomplishment for this shattered man! You can't help, but feel for this tortured suffering couple, as they both have endured so much pain in their lives! Readers will wonder if these star crossed lovers will ever truly be healed with enemies and traitors at every corner! Will they ever truly get their well deserved happily ending?

Vonda Sinclair, writes another spectacular, exhilarating, riveting adventure, in a beautiful breath taking Scottish setting with exceptional dialogue and captivating plot lines!  This marvelous book will have you sitting on the edge of your seat with anticipation - wondering what will happen next? A wee bit of Beauty and the Beast elements with a very unique twist. Don't get me wrong, it's totally original , unique, with a delightful and refreshing story. It is definitely not a fairy tale!  Has all the elements Scottish romance readers will love - attraction, betrayal, adventure, suspense , mystery, murder, hate, pain fear, guilt, hope, healing, passion and of course love.

A phenomenal swoon worthy read that will  pull at your heartstrings! Readers won't be able to put this exhilarating book down!

THE ROGUE BY MONICA MCCARTY, BOOK 11.5 NOVELLA, HIGHLAND GUARD NOVEL SERIES, 5 PLUS KILTS. CELTIC BARB SWOONING OVER THIS ONE AYE!

This is another Monica McCarty mind blowing masterpiece so make sure you have no plans for the day! As I simply could not put this one down which is my usual for reading a Monica McCarty novel! This is book #11.5 , a novella but the length is meaty one hundred and sixty six pages! So it feels more like a full book then a short novella. If you have read her previous book  The Rock #11, it falls right into place and sets us up for the next book The Ghost releasing on May 31st and sadly that is the  last book in this dozen book series. So find your comfy reading area, sit back, read and enjoy the ride! I know I definitely did!

Edinburgh Scotland, 1314

In this novel  the heroine is Isabel (Izzie) Stewart,  cousin to Elizabeth Douglas. Elizabeth was getting ready to accept the proposal from Mr. Too-Good-To-Be-True, Sir  Thomas Randolph, Earl of Moray, that everyone refers to as Randolph. He was like the Prince of the realm,  all the women at court wanted him, he knew how to put on a big show and be charming, handsome, debonair, gracious, chivalrous, intelligent, sings like an angel, just like the Knights of fairie tales. Of course being a favorite nephew  of King the Bruce and all the right political connections and very wealthy didn't hurt his image either!

Izzie could tell it was all a big show to impress and saying only what others wanted to hear. In other words she thought he was a big fake and didn't impress her in the least. Izzy was a realist if something was too good to be true, it usually didn't exist. Oh she understood arranged political marriage for titles, properties and wealth! Plus looking the other way after you have birthed the expected heirs while he takes as many mistresses as he desired! No fidelity and no feelings of love just a life headed for misery as far as Izzie was concerned!

Her cousin Elizabeth understood all of this and deserved better, plus the fact she was in love with someone else! The man she loves is only a blacksmith, who is bellow her class!  Thom MacGowan, her childhood friend,  once her brother Jamie's best friend, but had a falling out some years ago. Jamie would never approve plus Thom had nothing to offer Elizabeth, but then he does a favor for the King that put him in a different light. I suggest you read The Rock to find out more details.

Izzie herself will never settle for this type of political marriage as she wants a love match and a man who will honor his marriage vows and be faithful to his wife. She is not they type of woman to look the other way, while her husband has another life without her. Plus, she also wouldn't want an empty headed pigeon either! In other words it couldn't just be a marriage in bed only! They had to have meaningful discussions with common and similar interests too.

Then Elizabeth throws her cousin Izzie and Randolph together and she soon see's his true colors and finds he is not as shallow and vain as she once thought. Actually he is quite intelligent, honest, caring and all the qualities Izzie admires and more. He shows what is hidden behind that metal armor and more that he never shared with anyone! Passions ignite after they get to know each other and the attractions and affection grows after a few romantic interludes. Randolph would never call off the planned betrothal to Elizabeth as like most Highlander's he is man of honor.

Randolph had promised Jamie Douglas ( The Knight) he would ask his sister Elizabeth to be his wife. A woman that he feels nothing for, but would be the perfect wife for a political marriage. A wife that could look the other way after he tires of her and takes up with other women. She would know what to expect with this type of marriage. It was all perfect and practically gift wrapped and tied in a perfect bow! Well it had been until her irritating,  outspoken, smart and beautiful cousin,  Isabel Stewart storms into his life and straight into his heart unknown to him! He honestly didn't know what to do about it!

This only heads for heartache as many years ago Randolph betrayed the Highland Guards and he would never do it again. So how will Izzie ever put the pieces of her broken heart together? What about Elizabeth Douglas will she also leave her love,Thom MacGowen and marry a man just for wealth, title and position? but a man who will be true?  Will Randolph actually put Izzie aside for a woman he doesn't care for? If he does this - will he regret this decision setting Izzie aside for a political marriage?  Or will he finally open his heart and do the right thing honor be damned? For the answers and more you must read this magnificent story that I highly recommend!

Monica does it again with my favorite type of read with true historical facts in her fiction romance that pulls the heart strings. Another fast paced, riveting, heart warming captivating adventure that readers won't be able to put down! It had me rooting for the couple even thought they seem to be heading toward a life of heartache and misery! Of course a few times I wanted to smack Randolph in the head too...lol Hoping he would soon open his eyes and smell the coffee - to see what was right in front of him! I always love revisiting main characters who make appearances from precious Highland Guard books too. As you will see a few familiar characters in The Rogue!

Again I loved The Rogue,  no secret Monica McCarty is one of my favorite authors in the Scottish historical genre. I love her weaving true Scottish heroes and history into her own fictional romance. It's my favorite combination for reading my favorite genre Scottish historical romance.

Sadly the next book The Ghost, book #12, will be the last in her magnificent masterpiece Highland Guard series, which I have absolutely and unequivocally loved each and every one! Thank you for writing such wonderful satisfying  stories that I will never forget!

I highly recommend The Rogue you can read as stand alone or in book order,  but I highly recommend you read all the books in Monica McCarty's  Highland Guard series as they all spectacular  from start to finish in my opinion.

Roses Among the Heather by Anna Markland, Book three, Caledonia Series, 5 Kilts

Newcastle-upon-Tyne
England, 1465

This book is about the story of twin bothers Blair and Craig Robertson being forced to marry report to New Castle as part of the day of the end of The War of the Roses treaty. This decreed by King Edward and a Bishop who looks like thier long dead Uncle Ducan, who died of drowning thirty years prior. It is determined they are both to take English wives Susanna Glazebrooke and Timothea Bradshawe.

The twin brothers are less then thrilled by this knowledge at least they are at first. The woman who both are widows, coming from bad marriages are even less then thrilled to marry these strangers, who happen to be barbaric Scots!  Yet the brothers will do anything for the good of the Clan! As common practice for this time period in history  to secure alliances between countries,  the answer often  was a political marriage.

On top of that the women seem to detest each other. So definitely this journey back to Scotland is going to have to tread lightly as their definitely going to hit some rough waters. Besides having a rough journey back to Scotland with fires, downing and horrid weather conditions.

This is a fast paced riveting adventure meaty novella close to two hundred pages plus lined with true historical details which is always a favorite of mine. Plus filled with mystery, suspense, time-travel, emotion, laughter, magical elements, passion and finally true love. A delightful truly magical read!

This is the third book in Anna Mackland's Caledonia series you can read alone or in book order. So for readers who have read the previous books they will be happy to revisit some of those characters in this book too.

I recieved this book from the publishers in exchange for an honest review through netgalley.com.

If you haven't read the other books you can still read as a stand alone book too. I have truly enjoyed this entire series immensely but I think this is my favorite book yet. Totally Brilliant! Have your box of tissues this one is a heartbreaker but really a fabulous read! OMG! Ashley York has outdone herself this time, about a couple whose love seems to be torn into shreds, because of traitors and others political aspirations not mentions in dangerous situations and abuse. Tisa life seems to be headed in a fast paced vicious cycle that is out of control seems to be getting worse by the minute. Riveting storyline, dialogue and highly emotional, filled with betrayal, selfishness, forgiveness, treachery, brutality, forgiveness and love. Definitely one you don't want to miss *** I received this Ebook copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review through netgalley.com*** The Noman Conquest series by Ashley York 1)The Saxon Bride 2)The Gentle Knight 3)The Irish Warrior 4)The Seventh Son

THE HIGHLANDER'S VOW BY BARBARA LONGLEY BOOK 4, LOCH MOIGH SERIES, 5 KILTS, TIME TRAVEL

Scotland, 1443, 15th century
America,  2014, 21st century

Sky Elizabeth Mackintosh, the eldest daughter of the  Laird of Clan MacKintosh and Earl of Fife of Loch Moigh. She has traces of fae blood and fae powers where she can feel what other  people are feeling can tell a lie to the truth As all he women in her family and line have these fae power though in different strains of it as all their powers differ. Sky Elizabeth, has arrived at the man she has been betrothed to since birth, feels nothing for it's an arranged marriage not unusual for this time period especially for the nobility. The marriage is for financial gain and lands which will become her husband's once they are wed, Sky would rather stay at Loch Moigh on her families lands forever to become a healer or a weaver and remain unwed as she wants no bairns ever! She feels her gifts are both a blessing and a curse as they have to keep their powers secret and  hidden in these difficult times. For women have little choices as men make all the decisions and could be burned for witchery or sorcery if the fae powers in The Macintosh women were ever found out! This is the main reason she has no desire to deliver children into this world with such a heavy burden to be dealt with.

Still feeling unsettled as she arrived at her betrothed home, Sir Oliver of clan Erskine at Kildummy Castle, and then is horrified to learn on a conversation she eavesdrops on between her betrothed, Oliver and his lover his future plans to murder her after they have been married for a year!  His evil plan to murder and manipulate Sky just for her wealth and land has her so terrorized by what she heard Sky sneaks to find her father and brother on horseback!  Riding for her life on her horse at breakneck speed, fearing they know she was listening to Oliver's evil plan, Sky is thrown from her horse and is thrown right into a time portal, which lands her in the lap of a gorgeous blonde Knight,  in the middle of a jousting tournament! Except one thing - Sky is now in 21st century! New York,  in the year 2014 and the middle of a medieval festival!

Struan Sutherland, her Knight knows exactly what Sky Elizabeth just experienced and why she is so frightened! This so called  Knight, Struan, ironically is also a time traveler, he too came to the future ten years prior at the young age of fourteen. Struan was in the middle of a battle that killed his sire, would of killed him too if he hadn't jumped in the portal! This scares him to death as he feels this is some type of omen telling him he's been  living on borrowed time?

Staring at this beautiful armful stirs all kinds of emotions and memories , so he brings her to his foster family,  who adopted him all those years ago. Braun is attracted to her instantly,  took Sky in though what he feels for her is anything but sisterly! Yet when he finds out she is an Earls daughter all those old feelings of bitterness, pique, animosity and envy cone flying back. All due to being born in the wrong side of the blanket the bastard son of the Earl of Sutherland! The brings back his tortured childhood memories in full force and how half brothers and sires wife had bullied him and treated him like scum!

He knows in this time it's the perfect life for him as he has a fine black smith business owns land and has a decent bank account. Nobility doesn't even exist in America plus in this time no one cares if you are legitimate or not, as no one  labels you by your birth. He knows in the past he will only be seen as the bastard son of an Earl? He will never be good enough to touch Sky, a legitimate Earl's daughter! Struan won't be permitted  anywhere near her, definitely will never be allowed to court his precious princess as he affectionally call's Sky!

Sky knows if she does not return home it will cause bloodshed and a clan war and besides missing her kin. She also does not want to leave Struan since opening her heart to him. Yet she does not want him to leave his wonderful life in the 21st century, knowing how dangerous the past can be. Plus the fact Struan is keeping a secret from Sky she is not aware of and either way someone is going to end with a broken heart!

Can Sky's chivalrous blond knight turn his back on his Princess? Can Struan leave his loving 21st century foster family, the family he had always wished and dreamed about in the 14th century but never had? Plus he promised The Gordon's his foster family who took him and  have loved treated him like a blood son for the past decade that he would never leave! Talk about being between a rock and a hard place, what will Struan choose? Could it be possible that both Sky and Struan will end up with their young tender hearts destroyed broken to pieces? What truly devastating and difficult decisions Sky and Struan need to make!  To find the answers and more I recommend you read this magnificent and astounding read.

Wow! Wow Wow! Feuding Clans, missing Laird's daughter and heiress, time portals, landing in gorgeous Scots lap,  racing against time to prevent bloodshed! Star crossed lovers that readers will root and cheer they accomplish a happily-ever-after!

As Barbara Longley does it again in her fourth novel of her wonderful best selling Loch Moigh series! It is another exhilarating, fast paced, page turning, riveting, time-travel adventure, with characters that glide off the pages and right into your heart!  Fans of the Loch Moigh series, do not want miss it, if you are new to the series - not to worry as you can easily read "The Highlander's Vow" as a stand alone book as well. Rebel Warrior by Regan Walker , Book #3 Medieval Warriors TBR 5/17/2016 5 Kilts

OMG REGAN WALKER DOES IT AGAIN, PENS ANOTHER EXCEPTIONAL BOOK READERS WONT BE ABLE TO PUT DOWN!

This is the third book is Regan Walker's Medieval Warriors series which is absolutely captivating  has all the elements readers love the read about being. Rebel Warrior is beautifully layered with with true historic figures, facts and authentic history of Scotland woven into her own creative and intriguing fictional story! These are my favorite combinations in reading Scottish historical romance and I always find some true historical facts I never knew  or was not aware of. For me that makes this book even more special and fascinating to read about.

Rebel warrior has lovable and swoon worthy characters that will glide right off the pages and straight into the readers heart!  Besides the main characters Catrìona and Steinar, the secondary characters and their stories were magnificent! The handsome Welsh bard, Rhodri, Cartrìona's cousin Fia, her brother Niall, Queen Margaret, King Malcolm, Colbán, Captain of the Kings Guard, Audra, one the Queen Margarets Ladies, and adorable orphan Giric  and you can't help but fall in love in with! Each character has a story of their own , but they all bring something to the table per say with their own contributions to this fabulous story.

All in all this book is spectacular, riveting adventure quick paced and one of those rare books you can't book down! Absolutely loved Rebel Warrior Warrior!
I highly recommend Rebel Warrior by Regan Walker book 3 in her Medieval Warriors series if you haven't read her previous books it is fine too as you can read as a stand alone book as well.

Scotland 1072-1072

The Story begin as the heroine of the story Catrìona of the Vale of Leven had been out with her guard Angus flying her Falcon when Northman come and murder her parents and devastated and brutally murdered, raped and destroyed every living soul including her father Cormac, Mormaer of the Vale of Leven and her mother had been raped and murdered the only one's that survived were the younger women they kidnapped including her handmaiden Deidre. They took or slaughtered everything and burned her father's ship and their home to the ground. Luckily her younger brother Niall was out with his bow and arrows and was also spared and her Uncle Domnall arrived later that day and took his niece amd nephew in as they no longer had anything everything taken or destroyed this brutal attack.

A year later her Uncle brings Fia, Niall and she to Scottish court of King Malcolm where Fia and Catrìona becomes ladies maids to Queen Margaret still having nightmeres fro her families attack and has lost her faith in God. On top of that she is betrayed the man she was supposed to be betrothed to her father had chosen. He chooses the new rich heiress ladies maid who is not very friendly or charitable and won't even listen to the Queens orders.  A match made in heaven as far as Catrìona is concerned, not realizing this man still thinks he can have her in bed!

Even before she see's his true colors Catrìona is attracted to the King's  gorgeous golden scribe with a warriors body who befriends her and is none other, but Serena, from The Red Wolf's Prize brother Steinar. He had been exiled to Scotland while his near death injury is healing he secretly practices with his sword.  He is instantly attracted and falls in love with the beautiful spit fire Catrìona and reminding  him of his adventurous and independent sister.  Also it pains him the know he was once a son of thegn and a warrior, but now as far as classes go he is way beneath her being only the Kings scribe! It will break his heart to watch her marry another with nothing to offer her like lands and even a home! Then after a heroic act and he is surprisingly offered lands and a wife by the King, but find out the King has promised Catrìona to the Captain of his Guards. Steinar is heartsick but can't stay away from the lass . The Queen knowing what a forced marriage feels like suggests to her husband they watch her and pick the man she favors, the king still undecided  but agrees. To the King it is all about alliance love can come later, but the Queen understands what a forced marriage can feel like.

As for King Malcolm he often like to play a tug a war with William the Conquerer kind of playing a game of catch me if you can raiding Northumbria often. William wants the King of Scots lands and is furious at Malcolm  for taking in all the exiled English rebels. As the Conquerer wanted Scotland no
doubt something Malcolm would never give, but it was a dangerous game Malcolm was playing as soon or later William would retaliate and conquer! After all he earned the name William the Conquerer for a reason!

I loved the  secondary stories in this book involved secrets, secret identities, unrequited love, betrayal, orphan boys whose family was also murdered, and more. If your an animal lover like me you will love the scenes with Catrìona's trained Falcon and Giric's dog feeding him scraps secret under the Kings table. Also his admiration for Steinar and love for Catrìona.

Now you have to wonder will Catriona and Steinar be forced to marry others and be separated forever? Will Catrìona ever be at peace without finding her parents murderers and will her tormented nightmares and terrors stay with her forever?  Will William the Conquerer get his ultimate revenge and ravage and rape  Scotland as he has done in England?  What will Giric do without having Cateiona and Steinar around once they are forced to marry others and move away? Will he feel abandoned once again? Will Catrìona  ever find out what happened to her handmaiden Deirdre or will she never know and always wonder? This and so many more questions as you must reads this remarkable story about this star crossed couples destiny set in a beautiful Scottish setting with awesome dialogue and riveting plotlines. Even the secondary characters have there own conflicts and stories that need to be resolved, which I find is rare in most stories only focusing on the two main characters. I fell a little in love with the secondary character of the Welsh bard, and leader of archers Rhodri myself...sigh

A remarkable story that wilł stay with you long after you have read it definitely going on my keeper shelf! I can't recommend it enough!

Highland Hellion by B.J. Scott 5 kilts Just released today!

Highland Hellion is  by B.J. Scott latest release in a brand new series and the first book in the  Blades of Honor. Series.  For fans of the Fraser brother trilogy you will be happy that all the brother Connor, Alastair and Bryce and their families will also have a big part in this book. It is always fun to hear from old friends..

Scottish Highlands, 1316

Allegiance's  change after Battle of Bannockburn Robert the Bruce claims the throne and made the Scot's who did not support him and tearing and a civil war occurred  worse then with England. As Brother fought against brother, cousin against cousin  as Scot's were fighting Scots's. Also it was horrible time for those who didn't support the winning King in this case Robert the Bruce. As many were cast out of their homes and castles and lands forcing the Scot's to living in the hills on barren lands where nothing  would survive or grow. On top of that these people were not allowed to hunt. Scot's living in these horrid conditions did what they had to survive and that was to raid as what choice did they really have as you have to eat to survive. As this was the case with the heroine of the story Ayra MacEachan and for a woman to be caught stealing  the punishment was a serve lashing and death by drowning without even a trial as Lords of this castles were the law on itself. As these were difficult frightening  times for both the men and women of Scotland.

Ayra MacEachan is the heroine who father taught her manly pursuits like hunting , weaponry and to straddle,a horse. Which many may think unusual she being a lass. At a sad turn of event her father is  struck down in battle as it is a difficult time in Scotland . After The Bruce's victory in her clan is cast out of their castle and land and forced to live in the barren hill. Then the hero of this story Garrett MacDougall the leader of his displayed is tricked by a traitor to steal from the new Lord of Agryll, who is actually living in  Ayra's families former Castle and land. Ayra is worried about her dying mother and but is very a strong willed woman who  dresses like a man or take no for an answer from men and can wield a sword and throw a dagger better then many men.

Garret who is the hero of this book very much in love and wants to be with her forever if only she would accept him.  As he adores this headstrong independent lass plus he made a promise to Ayra's mother that he wouldn't bring her on anymore raids. Of course without much convincing and a few threats from Arya he brings her along but things go bad as they were tricked by a traitor and  many of his men are killed and Arya is set to be flogged and executed by drowning without a trial by this new Lord of Agryll!

Then lifelong secret is revealed from Arya's mother  and Garrett is force to received a plan to hopefully rescue the woman he loves from their worse enemy the Fraser brothers which is very difficult to accept.

Will they be able to rescuers Arya in time ? What is this secret that Arya's mother has been holding? Will Garrett's dream to marry Arya ever come true and will ever ever accept him being so strong willed? You will have to read this marvelous book to find out.

I really enjoy Highland Hellion and recommend it as it was another face paced adventure that you really feel for this  exiled clan who are living under such horrid conditions during such turbulent times
